Zaria Journal of Electrical Engineering Technology (ZJEET) is a biannual peer-reviewed, open-access publication of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It publishes original work on the theory, techniques, methodology and application of electrical, electronic, control, communication and computer engineering, with emphasis on engineering design and analysis, and maintains a balance between research and practice for both researchers and practitioners.

• Power systems — generation, transmission and distribution; network reconfiguration and planning; power flow, stability and state estimation; power quality, protection and fault detection; load forecasting; economic and emission dispatch; distributed generation and its optimal placement and sizing.
• Renewable energy and energy systems — solar photovoltaic systems and maximum power point tracking, wind and solar resource assessment, hybrid and off-grid systems, rural electrification, energy storage, energy harvesting, and energy management systems including demand response.
• Microgrids and smart grids — grid-connected and islanded operation, load frequency and voltage control, demand-side management, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, metering and grid monitoring.
• Electrical machines and drives — machine modelling, design, performance analysis, condition monitoring, and motor drive systems.
• Power electronics — rectifiers, inverters and multilevel and modular converters, harmonic compensation, converter control, and wireless power transfer and charging systems.
• Control systems and automation — classical, optimal, adaptive, predictive and intelligent control; PID design and tuning; system identification, observers and state estimation; process and industrial control; robotics and mechatronics.
• Electronics, instrumentation and measurement — analogue and digital circuits, embedded and microcontroller systems, sensors and transducers, non-destructive testing and measurement systems.
• Telecommunications — wireless, mobile and optical communication; radio propagation, channel modelling and attenuation studies; antennas and millimetre-wave systems; network capacity, routing and performance; vehicular networks, visible light communication and the Internet of Things.
• Computer engineering and information technology — computing and embedded systems, digital signal and image processing, computer vision, and machine learning and deep learning applied to engineering systems.
• Computational intelligence and optimisation applied to electrical engineering problems — metaheuristic, evolutionary and swarm methods, mathematical programming, and data-driven modelling, where the engineering problem and its evaluation are central.
METHODS: analytical and mathematical modelling, simulation and numerical studies with stated models and parameters, laboratory experiments and hardware prototypes, field measurement and industrial case studies, algorithm development benchmarked against existing methods, and critical or systematic reviews. Work using Nigerian and African networks, measurements and operating conditions is especially encouraged.
MANUSCRIPT TYPES: original research articles, review articles, case studies and short communications. Submissions must be original, not under consideration elsewhere, and written in English.
READERSHIP: electrical, electronic, control, telecommunication and computer engineering researchers and postgraduate students; power system, control and communication practitioners; utility, transmission, distribution and renewable-energy engineers; regulators and energy planners; and engineering educators.
OUT OF SCOPE: work in other engineering or science disciplines where no electrical, electronic, control, communication or computing contribution is central; pure mathematics, physics or computer science with no engineering application; generic machine-learning or software studies with no engineering system, signal, device or network as their subject; energy-sector business, management, economics or policy studies with no engineering analysis; simulation results whose model, parameters, data source or validation basis are not reported; the routine re-application of an established algorithm to a standard test case with no comparison against existing methods and no new insight; product or vendor descriptions; opinion pieces without evidence; and consultancy reports, teaching notes and unrevised student projects.
